My Reason: Paid VS Free
So I’ve been listening to how other script writers (for game dev and software/IT uses) tend to price their scripts and why they set the prices they choose…
It sounds to me the reason for an actual price tag on a digital product isn’t really intended to show “greed” (well… it isn’t supposed to at least…) but instead to show that the creator of the product considers the product is actually WORTH something. So it shows the product isn’t just a randomly slapped together piece of hot trash.
Moving forward, I’ll be putting some actual thought into how much I actually think the products I create are worth… y’know… instead of deferring that task to you awesome end-users to decide what you think each of my products are worth without actually trying it first…
I’ll make sure my prices are fair and honest, and that the prices I set truly reflect what I personally feel the product itself is worth.
To be honest… up until now, I’ve been releasing many of my products with a mindset of “The customers will know what THEY feel this [item type goes here] is worth, so I should just trust their assessments!” however it seems that has an unhelpful side-effect… I’ve learned that many customers are wary of the level of quality and safety of products that are listed as “FREE” when it comes to source code type products… which is the primary type of product I create and release… soooo… oops! I deffo didn’t think that through tbh…
